Introducing Glymr – The Missing Piece of the Data Puzzle

Today we are proud to launch Glymr, a brand new kind of data insights training that will help your company get the full value out of its data. 

For the past decade, “data” has been the biggest buzzword out there.

“Data will increase your sales.”

“Data will make your marketing more efficient.”

In response to this buzz, companies have made huge investments in first-party and third-party data, along with the infrastructure to hold it, platforms to work with it and the teams to manage and mine it. 

This data revolution has yielded benefits for the companies that embraced it, but in most cases those benefits haven’t been as dramatic as they expected. There is a feeling inside most companies that data SHOULD be creating more value for them. 

That feeling is right. Most companies are not coming close to realizing the full value of their data. Some of the common causes are:

• Data is scattered across the company, with few (if any) stakeholders able to see the full picture of what is available to them and how it fits together. 
• Gaps and missing connections in that data landscape hide valuable opportunities, and lead people to fill in with assumptions (and we all know what THOSE do). 
• Team members haven’t been taught how to find and validate actionable insights in all of that data. They may get training in particular tools and spend hours exploring the data in those tools but struggle to relate that data to the real world actions they could take. 
• People unknowingly fall prey to positivity bias, cherry-picking the most positive “story” they can from the data and inadvertently hiding part of the truth from the rest of the organization. 

Glymr was founded on the belief that 

1. data creates value only when it leads to actionable insights and 
2. the skills to find those actionable insights can and should be taught to everyone in your organization

These are NOT the same skills commonly taught in analytics or data science courses. Those courses teach people to use data to ANSWER questions. Our training teaches people to use data to figure out which questions to ASK. It is a holistic blend of creative and critical thinking. This is why we say that data is a science, but insights are an art.
